SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 8
(By Senators Wagner, Chafin, Scott, Sharpe, Plymale,
Ross, Anderson, Manchin, Wooton, Blatnik, Buckalew,
Schoonover, Love, Kimble, Bowman, Miller, Macnaughtan,
White, Whitlow, Deem, Oliverio, Minear, Yoder,
Walker, Craigo, Boley, Jackson, Bailey,
Dittmar and Tomblin, Mr. President)
Congratulating the Gilbert High School football team for winning
the 1995 state Class A championship.
Whereas, The Gilbert High School football team ended the
1995 season with 11 wins and only 3 losses, earning them a chance
to participate in the 1995 state championship playoffs; and
Whereas, The Gilbert High School football team participated
in and won the 1995 state Class A football championship. The
first championship of any kind for Gilbert High School; and
Whereas, Head coach Gordon Carter and his assistant, Jerry
Miller, along with athletic director Gary Justice and athletic
trainer Daniel Dean, took great pride in leading their team to
victory; and
Whereas, The athletic ability and outstanding sportsmanship
of each of the team players helped to make winning the 1995 state Class A championship a reality; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates the Gilbert High School
football team for an outstanding 1995 football season and for
winning the state Class A championship; and, be it
Further Resolved,
That the Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to head coach Gordon Carter;
assistant coach Jerry Miller; and athletic director Gary Justice.
